Free to integrate. No extra integration charges. Standard app subscriptions apply.
Built around the way you already work
You may have your own accounts package, a tool built for your practice, or a spreadsheet you’ve refined over the years. A custom export gives those figures a simple route into MTD Companion for Making Tax Digital for Income Tax.
For software developers and practices
Give users or colleagues a way to send their income and expense totals straight from your software into MTD Companion. Your software manages the records; the app handles the review and HMRC submission.
For your own accounting setup
Connect a personal spreadsheet, database or custom tool. If your setup can generate an import URL (a link containing your totals), it can pass those figures to MTD Companion without you having to retype them.
A simple link from your figures to the app
MTD Companion supports custom URL scheme links and web import links. These carry your income and expense totals from your software into the appropriate form in the app.
- Create an export. Your software puts the relevant totals into an import URL. It can open that URL automatically as part of your workflow, or offer an “Export to MTD Companion” button.
- Open the link. With the correct submission screen open for the business or client in MTD Companion, the URL imports the figures into the app.
- Review and submit. The user checks the imported figures in the app and submits when ready. Importing a link does not automatically file a return.
Working on another computer? Web import links also provide a route to the app through a QR code, so a Windows or browser-based setup can connect to MTD Companion on an iPhone or iPad.
Free to integrate
There is no integration fee or extra charge for importing figures from your own software. Users simply need the standard MTD Companion subscription appropriate to them, including an agent subscription for practices.
